What the record does not yet show

These records leave much unknown. The gaps below are the ones that matter most to this book:

  • The full articles. Most 1988–89 items survive as search extracts. The full pages, with headlines, bylines and photographs, are still to be read.

  • The police record of 29 April and 29–30 November 1988. The press reports officers present; the police logs of those days are SOURCE PENDING.

  • The magistrates’ court records. Which charges were brought, which were withdrawn, which were admitted and with what sentence, are known only from press extracts.

  • The court orders of November and December 1988. The injunction granted, the conditions on collecting belongings and the final dismissal are known from press reports, not the orders.

  • The council’s action of 1989. Its outcome is not in the record.

Where a later record fills a gap, the next edition of this book will add it, and its release notes will say so.
